Hoy en día, GFR Media alcanza 2 millones de personas (el 75% de la población) en Puerto Rico. Primera Hora se fundó en 1997 por la familia Ferré-Rangel a partir de la necesidad existente en el mercado de contar con un producto nuevo y diferente. La familia Ferré Rangel decidió lanzar un nuevo diario, no sin antes llevar a cabo investigaciones en el mercado local e internacional sobre cómo crear un periódico fácil de leer, con historias breves, concisas, dinámico, con fotografías y buen uso del color. Con esta misión surge Primera Hora y su primera edición sale a la calle el 17 de noviembre de 1997.
