The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine was approved in 2006 by the Florida Board of Governors and the Florida Legislature. In February 2013 the medical degree program received full accreditation from the Liaison Committee for Medical Education, and on April 29, 2013, the inaugural class graduated. Among the innovative elements of the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is a program called Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP™ that sends teams of medical students along with their counterparts in social work, nursing, and law into the community. O Grupo Tomovale traz em seu DNA o empreendedorismo do médico paraibano Dr. Suélio Marinho de Queiroz, que trouxe na bagagem sua dedicação pela medicina e o cuidado com seus pacientes para Caçapava, no interior de São Paulo em 1978, que junto com Maria Cleide Abrantes fundou a primeira unidade. Já em São José dos Campos, Dr. Suélio uniu-se a cinco colegas médicos da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) para trazer o primeiro tomógrafo na região do Vale do Paraíba, originando assim o nome TOMOVALE. No ano 2000, o grupo inaugurou o programa de residência médica através da Tomovale Ensino, formando médicos especialistas através do curso de Aperfeiçoamento em Radiologia e Diagnóstico por Imagem (RDDI), que é reconhecido e certificado pelo Colégio Brasileiro de Radiologia e Diagnóstico por Imagem (CBR). Nesses quase 20 anos mais de 150 jovens médicos se formaram e hoje atuam também outros estados. A instituição contribui ainda para a formação de estagiários, técnicos, tecnólogos, biomédicos e profissionais da área administrativa. No ano de 2014, a partir da idealização do médico e empreendedor Dr. Suélio Marinho de Queiroz em criar uma instituição sem fins econômicos, nasceu o Instituto de Radiologia Dr. Suélio Marinho de Queiroz, cujo objetivo principal fosse oferecer exames de radiologia e diagnósticos por imagem com qualidade e segurança para o sistema único de saúde, e a baixos custo de forma social. Atualmente mais de 300 pacientes são atendidos todos os dias nas unidades da Tomovale - Centro de Diagnóstico por Imagem em São José dos Campos, Jacareí e Caçapava, sendo realizados mais de 12 mil exames por mês, com resultados rápidos e precisos. Em mais de 40 anos de história, a Tomovale segue firme seu propósito em cuidar das pessoas, sendo referência em inovação e atendimento humanizado.
