AksjeNorge «EquityNorway» is a non-commercial NGO. Our objective is to increase financial literacy in Norway, focusing on how the securities markets operate and how private individuals can invest in these markets, in order to motivate to increase private ownership. AksjeNorge was established in 1993 by several exchange listed companies, LO and NHO, Oslo Børs, VPS, the Shipowners Association, Gjensidige, KLP, Statoil, fund managers and brokerage firms. We have a long term perspective and work closely toward our three target audiences; the general public, schools and students, as well as employee share ownership.

Våre medlemsforetak har et felles mål om å styrke omverdenens tillit til verdipapirbransjen både gjennom profesjonelt arbeid med kapitalinnhenting, omstrukturering av virksomheter, og organisering av en ordnet og trygg handel med verdipapirer. Verdipapirforetakenes Forbund er en av landets eldste næringsorganisasjoner. Forbundet har røtter til Fondsbørsens Meglerforening og Norges Fondsmeglerforbund, som ble slått sammen i 1978. Fondsbørsens Meglerforening ble stiftet i 1915. Foreningen fungerte som kursnoteringsutvalg på Kristiania Børs. Norske Fonds- og Aktiemegleres Landsforbund ble stiftet i 1918. Forbundet besto av 17 lokale fonds- og aksjemeglerforeninger. I 1975 endret det navn til Norges Fondsmeglerforbund. I 2013 endret Norges Fondsmeglerforbund navn til Verdipapirforetakenes Forbund.
