BTPA is the independent body responsible for ensuring an efficient and effective British Transport Police force for rail operators, their staff and passengers. It is modelled as much as possible on the set up of a local police authority, but it oversees a force that is responsible for policing a much wider area: the railways of England, Scotland and Wales. There are thirteen members of the police authority who provide knowledge and experience of issues that concern passengers, the railways industry, railways employees and the regions. They meet six times a year to set British Transport Police targets, monitor its operations and allocate funds for its budget.

Every day, we help millions of people to make journeys across London: By Tube, bus, tram, car, bike – and more. People don’t associate us with journeys by river, on foot or via the air, but we help with that, too. Getting people to where they need to go has been our business for over 100 years, and it shows. We’re leaders in our field, and no other city’s transport system is quite as recognisable: Red buses, black taxis, Tube trains and roundels have become icons in their own right. Our main job is to keep the city moving, working and growing but to do that, we have to listen. Constant improvements across the network are fuelled by feedback and comments from customers, as well as work within communities, representative groups, businesses and other London transport stakeholders. But our progress also depends on technology and data. With the future at our fingertips, we’ve already used it to revolutionise travel payments (think Oyster and contactless payment cards), and improved travel information. Tech and data is essential, not just to our future, but to others’: third parties use our data to power apps and services vital to customer journeys. So what’s next? As well as continuing to deliver Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s strategy and commitments on transport, our programme of capital investments is still one of the largest. We launched the Elizabeth line, we’re modernising services and stations and making travel safer for all.

The Rail Safety and Standards Board is the independent safety, standards and research body for Great Britain’s rail network. We help to make an evolving railway safer, more efficient and more sustainable. We work collaboratively with an evolving industry to ensure that innovative and sustainable technology is operated safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. National Express is the UK’s largest scheduled coach operator. We are headquartered in Birmingham, with locations across the country. Our national network serves hundreds of UK towns and cities. We run round-the-clock services to the UKs major airports and our festival and events services take customers to sporting and music events as well as festivals. Our fleet has market-leading safety features and we work across our entire business to drive safety improvements. In 2021, we received a five star audit rating from The British Safety Council for the eigth consecutive year. Coach travel is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of transport. We have continually invested in the cleanest and most efficient vehicles available to us. Every coach we have purchased since 2014 has been Euro VI – the highest emissions standard available. Emissions per coach passenger are much lower than those travelling by car and coaches reduce congestion by using road space more efficiently. We are accredited by the National Living Wage Foundation for pledging to pay the voluntary, higher real Living Wage across all of our UK businesses.
