Founded in 1901, University of Toronto Press (UTP) is Canadas leading scholarly publisher and one of the largest university presses in North America. UTP publishes approximately 200 new scholarly, course, reference, and general-interest books each year and maintains a backlist of over 3,500 titles.
In early 2008 University of Toronto Press acquired the Broadview Press publishing lists in anthropology, history, politics, and sociology. Broadviews editors in these areas, as well as a significant portion of Broadviews sales and marketing, production, and management teams, joined UTPs Scholarly Publishing team and are now part of the integrated Book Publishing Division.
In partnership with the University of Torontos Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto Press launched Rotman-UTP Publishing in October 2008, a new imprint devoted to publishing actionable business information of exceptional quality.
More recently, UTP acquired the New Jewish Press from the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies. The New Jewish Press imprint will publish outstanding books in the domains of Jewish culture, history, philosophy, literature, and religion.
The Journals Division is dedicated to innovation in publishing and the sustainability of scholarly journals. The Journals Division offers bilingual online peer review and editorial support; copy-editing, typesetting, and XML tagging; e-publishing and printing; marketing management and advertising sales; circulation and distribution.
The Distribution Division offers competitive services to a broad range of clients, including publishers, government institutions, and other corporations. The Retail Division is a highly regarded and successful campus retailer, which operates five stores across four campuses for the University of Toronto and OCAD University with a focus on being service-oriented, responsive to student needs, innovative, and providing quality products at reasonable prices.
