TigerBeetle is the world’s fastest financial transactions database. Not to mention the smallest and toughest. TigerBeetle provides debit/credit primitives directly in the database to power a wide variety of transaction processing (OLTP) use cases: API billing, real time spend caps, instant payments, high-volume trading, core banking, warehouse inventory, trucking & shipping, ticket reservations, energy smart meters, gaming liveops etc. Designed in 2020, TigerBeetle is one of the first distributed databases to apply 2018 research, Protocol-Aware Recovery, to use global redundancy to survive local storage faults, and run across data centers, regions and cloud providers, with automated failover and high availability. Specializing for the OLTP workload, TigerBeetle solves the problem of row locks and write contention to unlock up to 1000x more performance than a general purpose (OLGP) database. As a result, a single TigerBeetle cluster can process over 100 billion transactions, at a hundredth of the cost compared to legacy, proprietary or cloud databases, for scalability and cost-efficiency.
