The Education Commission and The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment have come together to establish a $1 billion Education Outcomes Fund for Africa and the Middle East (‘The Fund’). The Fund will pool grants to commission results-based contracts aimed at scaling up transformational education interventions with upfront capital provided by impact investors. Sir Ronald Cohen serves as the Chair of the Fund and the UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Gordon Brown, serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board. This initiative will complement the existing education financing architecture including The Global Partnership for Education, The International Finance Facility for Education, and Education Cannot Wait in the pursuit of quality education for all.
