Wayne and Armando started in venture on the same day in June 2000. We have successfully invested and helped build portfolio companies across multiple industries. We have achieved profitable exits through major financial events such as the Dotcom crash, the 2008 recession, and other ups and downs.
We each separately learned at Caltech and MIT to rigorously examine both our successes and failures to improve our desired outcomes. This has led us to the investment strategy we are pursuing at Tensility. Here are our principles:
-We believe in the primacy of artificial intelligence and predictive analytics for doing incredible things. Early computing transported, integrated, and cleansed data at central points. The decentralization of computing resources, including mobile, improved enterprise-wide utilization of assets and reduced costs. Open source democratized the access to leading edge technologies. Big data and cloud brought low cost compute cycles to bear on huge data sets. Now we will see advancements from smarter software to create incredible functionality.
-We believe that it is important to listen to entrepreneurs, to our portfolio company leaders, to our advisers, to our co-investors and fellow board members, and to our team. While we do provide honest and constructive feedback, we are experienced enough to know that we alone do not have all the answers.
-We believe in pioneering entrepreneurs that can transform industries. While good companies can come from evolutionary strategies that improve upon the status quo, we prefer bold new ideas that can change the landscape.
-We believe our model for venture creates the best possible outcomes for both entrepreneurs and our entrepreneurial LPs.
