Spiracle is a new, fully functioning, British based audiobook e-commerce platform available on web and mobile app. Established in 2022, our core mission is to publish, curate and distribute outstanding books as audiobooks.
Our wider mission is to create a literary haven, a wonderful bookshop experience online; a place where booklovers can enjoy browsing, discussing and discovering brilliant modern and contemporary writing in the audio form.
Our newest initiative, Audiobook in a Card is a simple, but pioneering scheme in which we make audiobooks available in the form of attractive ‘physical’ cards available in independent bookshops across Britain.
We also commission, produce and compile extra material - articles, podcasts and events - through the Murmurations portal on the Spiracle site, expanding our reach and the world of and connections to the audiobooks available.
Helen Boaden, the former Head of Radio at the BBC, is “completely addicted to audiobooks” and was an early subscriber to Spiracle. “I was keen to see an independent British company succeed in giving a voice to independent contemporary writers and some slightly offbeat classics. Our target customers are book lovers, dividing between existing readers and newcomers to the audiobook form. Customer feedback shows that curation and independence are a valued part of the proposition.
