The NRW School of Governance is a professional school at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Associated with the Institute for Political Science the NRW School understands itself as an initiative for advancement of excellence in higher education in North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW). The School is organized with an interdisciplinary focus through joint appointments. Beyond social and administrative scientists lectures and researches from the fields of law, communications and economy are engaged in the curriculum and research projects. As an answer to a transformation of the state we convey modern conceptional and creative knowledge. We focus on the political realms of the Ruhr area, Düsseldorf (capital of NRW), Berlin (capital of Germany) and Brussels (center of European politics).
Our activities are subdivided into three major categories:
- our master program “political management, public policy and public administration” and especially practice oriented elements as part of the curriculum
- our post-graduate and PhD-program
- qualification and professional training outside the university (e.g. Master of Public Policy as an extra-occupational study program)
In addition we are engaged in multiple research projects, many funded by third party donors.
