MoreThanWater’s (MTW’s) mission is to provide rural Tanzanian villages with clean water and electricity, availing modern technology to people who live in a basic world. MTW’s for-profit, private sector approach presents an investment opportunity that is both financially attractive and socially responsible.
In Tanzania, more than 15 million people live without access to safe water, which gravely impacts vulnerable populations. By allowing safe and clean water to be acquired in an affordable, sustainable and scalable manner, MTW hopes to revolutionize the water supply model in Tanzania.
MTW seeks to change this history of failed water projects by applying an innovative for-profit approach to develop and operate sustainable water systems in Tanzania. MTW will finance, install and operate rural water systems and introduce several innovative project components, such as mobile phone charging, geo-spatial site selection, smart water dispensers via mobile banking, digital chlorination, remote monitoring of pump performance all exclusively run on solar power at a surprisingly low per capita cost. Our goal is to create a technology village hub giving people access to modern services. Individuals will pay for their water or other services using East Africa's advanced mobile money applications on their cell phones, which eliminates the transfer of cash and opportunities for corruption.
