The Office of Innovation and Strategy (OIS), led by MIT’s Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, Anantha Chandrakasan, is dedicated to shaping and advancing the Institute’s strategic goals in research, education, and entrepreneurship. It plays a central role in collaborating with MIT leadership, faculty, and industry partners to develop and implement high-impact initiatives aligned with President Sally Kornbluth’s priorities.
The OIS leads efforts to accelerate MIT’s strategic research agenda by developing implementation plans and securing critical resources that empower faculty and researchers to transform ideas into real-world impact. In addition to strengthening existing innovation and entrepreneurship programs across campus, the OIS identifies and nurtures new opportunities that support student, postdoctoral, and faculty innovators.
Fostering strong collaborations with industry leaders is a key component of the OIS’s work, driving the creation of collaborative programs that bridge academia and industry. The OIS also advances educational innovation at MIT, exploring new academic pathways to prepare students for diverse and evolving career landscapes.
Through its cross-cutting efforts, the Office of Innovation and Strategy serves as a catalyst for MIT’s continued leadership at the forefront of discovery, innovation, and societal impact.
