McCullum Youth Court (MYC) is a youth driven organization that gives first-time youth offenders a second chance to avoid entering the juvenile correctional system. Youth offenders are prosecuted and defended by Youth Attorneys, and heard by Youth Jurors. Youth-deliberated sentences hold youth accountable in a meaningful way under CA penal code. Referral to community based services, as well as MYC special services, are provided to all Youth Offender program participants. MYC special services are age appropriate and gender responsive. MYC Case Managers support Youth Offenders in fulfilling their sentences and setting goals for success after sentence completion. Youth in Leadership assist Case Managers with certain aspects of case management to reinforce the peer accountability aspect of our program. Successful graduates of the Youth Offender program are invited to participate in the Law & Justice Program at MYC. Named after federal district court Judge, the honorable Donald P. McCullum , MYC carries forward Judge McCullum's endeavors around social and racial justice to help ensure a better world for our children and our children's children.
