Lihme Protein Solutions (LPS) is a company with a pioneering strategy for developing novel food and feed protein ingredients from a broad range of currently underutilized sources. We focus on functional protein ingredients from plants, microorganisms, and marine species, including side streams from industries manufacturing other products from such raw materials.
To unlock the potential of these largely untapped protein resources, the development of specific food protein ingredients must be merged with separation science to a much greater extent than have been practiced so far.
Our company was launched in 2016 by a group of individuals having decades of experience as innovators and technologists in the bio-separations industry.
We use unique separation techniques, like Controlled Affinity Separation (CAS), to mobilize the vast resources of proteins that are otherwise wasted or underutilized, e.g. proteins diluted in process streams arising from the manufacture of starch, ethanol, vegetable oils, fish and other animal by-products. These proteins are normally impossible or too expensive to isolate in a native and functional form by conventional methods.
By using new protein separation techniques, we create the basis for enrichment, supplementation and substitution of the less sustainable proteins from animal sources, an absolute necessity in a growing world with an increasing demand for more food and more proteins.
