Global Fast is a movement unlike any other in the world. We are 100% charity and we don’t believe that solving global issues is someone elses job – we must all take responsibility together. And it’s not fundamentally about money, but about changing hearts and lives. In truth, we must change our own hearts and lives if we are to truly impact others. We believe that spiritual poverty is equally tragic as material poverty – and we commit to take on both through fasting and charity.
Our hearts are broken by the lack of clean water that leaves 20,000 innocents dead each day. Our anger burns to know that 27 million human beings are trapped in sex slavery and human trafficking. Our sense of human dignity confirms that the 2 billion global poor need economic opportunity to provide for their families.
Fasting puts our hearts and minds in touch with this urgent lack of water, freedom and opportunity. We commit to fast one meal each week as a statement of our hunger for change. We commit to sacrificial living to meet others’ needs and to change our lives.
We will donate the $5 we might have spent at Subway or Starbucks to give one person water for five years, to fight for freedom, or to provide economic opportunity. This is not a change in budget, but a changed lifestyle.
