The First Feature team is building a portfolio of businesses. And our aim is simple: to design, build and launch self-sustaining businesses, taking them from idea to product/customer fit and once they are ready, we hire, train and motivate a keen management team to scale the business (ping us if this interests you and you would like to join our FirstFeature.one network). We are not creating a venture studio, its important to note - we are the epitome of bootstrappers. Keep it lean, keep it tight. Over the past 30 years, our team has founded and launched Currencycloud (2007), Railsbank (2016), Albert (2015) and Evolution (1996). We have also served as lead mentors at accelerators such as Techstars and Startup Bootcamp; advised hundreds of founders; and taught launching startups at business school. This unique lived experience is codified into the FirstFeature.one product and our methodology work. We are an antidote to the hype, get rich quick videos, generic theory or “vibe code an MVP and hope”. Our first business out of the studio is GetBertie, an automated bookkeeping platform built directly for the digital artisan economy. GetBertie is developing the self-assembly bookkeeping market, helping digital artisans, including SaaS creators, Amazon KDP creators and Indie-hackers, win back their weekends and evenings. The objective is to free digital artisans from the stress and distraction of bookkeeping so they can focus on their craft and their families.
