Empire Investments aims to provide students with the opportunity to engage in stock market, forex and commodities trading and learn more about the capital markets. The group will run two investment funds, one using simulated currency and one using real currency funded by the founding members of the group. The real currency fund will donate a percentage of its annual returns to charity. Members of the group will be designated as analysts for the simulated fund and be provided training throughout the year. If these analysts show good progress they will be given the opportunity to become analysts for the real currency fund and provide recommendations. Analysts in both funds will be allocated a certain sector of the economy to conduct research in.
In addition, the club will run a Research Committee which will be responsible for researching companies with growth opportunities, creating financial model for those companies and updating those financial models when required. The findings of the Research Committee will be posted on an online website. Analysts will also be hired for the Research Committee and will be given the required training.
