François Czapek was a Czech-born Polish watchmaker who arrived in Switzerland in 1832. He was involved in the creation of two watchmaking companies until establishing his own in 1845. He became watchmaker to the Court of the Emperor Napoleon III and had a shop in Geneva, in Warsaw, and in Paris, Place Vendome. He wrote a book about watchmaking, the first ever written in Polish, and passed away before writing the second one. Czapeks legacy of precision and fine artistry continues today in the hands of watch lovers…
