Founded in 1986, the Climate Institute is the world’s first non-profit organization focused solely on climate change. Since its founding, the Institute has been instrumental in moving climate change onto the international agenda by fostering collaboration between developing and developed nations, launching and implementing pioneering studies and initiatives on subjects such as environmental refugees, transforming the energy infrastructure of small island states, and catalyzing policy maker focus on the necessity of limiting climate changing emissions. Our mission is to discover and implement climate solutions by advancing cutting-edge research, sharing information globally, and collaborating with U.S. and international partners.
The Climate Institute’s vision is to promote global climate stabilization and create climate mitigation/adaptation opportunities around the world while enhancing human well being and ecosystem vitality. We believe these goals can and must be achieved in a manner that improves quality of life of people all over the world, particularly the most vulnerable.
