BOUF was the UK and Europe's first online marketplace for designer-makers and boutique brands. BOUF was the go-to place to discover and sell "products with a twist", and developed a strong niche particularly in the Home & Garden, decorative accessories and unique gifts categories. Founded in 2007 by Alex Griffin, after he was enlightened during a trip to Spitalfields market in East London. This traction attracted funding from the founders of Passion Capital, Playfair Capital and various other high-profile European investors, and won various awards including the Metro Venture Candy £50k award, before it was acquired by Sanoma, PLC in 2015.
