Founded by Sophie Billi-Hardwick and Marie Bouhier in 2020, the pairs goal was to create durable and comfortable legwear that was no longer seen as disposable or for single-use.
Tights are impossible to recycle into a new pair and difficult to repair, so most end up as waste. Globally, 8 billion tights are sold and discarded each year. And each of them will take up to 100 years to decompose in landfills.
Billi Londons durable tights biodegrade in a record time of 5 years*, 20x faster than the normal 40-100 year timeframe, the materials break down into biomass and biogas, create renewable energy, and do not leave behind microplastics in landfills.
