On February 12th, 1908, the athletes from Cal’s intercollegiate varsity sports founded The Big C Society® in order to establish the standards for earning a varsity athletic letter. Now organized as a 501(c)3 charity, The Big C Society® also invests in media, technology, and events that spotlights Cal’s varsity alumni in post-sports careers, and connects our community of student-athletes and alumni in a network. It also invests in sports equipment for our teams and medical funding for Cal student-athletes with life-threatening injuries or illnesses.
